Carbon is a very complex molecule and a has a unique formula that allows carbon to form tetravalance and have many carbon bonds. Carbon has so many different uses and has many isotopes. It is mostly concentrated in living matter but also is found in the earth. Carbon is cycled through the enviroment by the processes of burning, respiration, and decay. Carbon has recently been taking the blame for the greenhouse effect and for global warming. Carbon dioxide is a green house gas and is one of the gases that increase the temperature of the planet. The burning of fossil fuels is also accountable though. Burning fossil fuels releases excess carbon into the enviroment. The carbon cycle is one of the main ones of all the systems, besides the oxygen cycle. Carbon has recently been taking the blame for the greenhouse effect and for global warming. It is an important nutrient cycle and produces amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Nitrogen comes mostly from the atmosphere but in cycled through plants. The oxygen cycle is the cycle of oxygen through the air, living things, and the earths crust. All the cycles interact to make this world a livable place. The cycles are really complex and all are intertwined.

Water is an essential element that affects all living things. All plants and animals need water to survive. Luckily it is something that cycles and is a renewable resource. There are many different aspects of the water cycle including evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, surface runoff, groundwater, and absorption. They all work together to get the water cycle working. Evaporation is 80% of the water for precipitation. It is the process where water is transferred from its liquid to its vapor form. Evaporation is dependent on some abiotic factors. It is affected by wind speed, humidity, and temperature. Transpiration is sort of similar to evaporation it is the loss of water from plants. Condensation is the reverse of evaporation and is the change of mass from the gaseous state in the liquid phase. Precipitation is any product of atmospheric vapor that falls to the Earth in the forms of rain, snow, hail, or sleet. Infiltration is when water on the ground surface enters the soil. It is responsible for groundwater and water sheds, it is a very helpful process. Surface runoff is water that flows over the earths surface. Ground water is water located beneath the earths surface. Absorption is the absorbing of water particles. In a water shed the water flows all around, it can be a stream or the ocean. It is a thing that holds water. There are many types of rivers and streams. flooding helps some places and too much can become very harmful. Erosion is a process that breaks downs solids and water is the corrosive thing that plays a big part in breaking them down. Deposition is when land is moved from one side of the river to another.

NASA blogs

I read multiwavelength astromy. It taught me about heat & wavelengths. I only got 1 out of 3 on the test right tho... The try me activity was a bar graph measuring different types of energy.

Biobottle & project

My biobottle is growing very well. Over the weekend the grass got really tall and green. But my fish is dead and it correlates directly with the growth of the grass. The nutrients are all used up by the grass and none were left for te fish to use. The temperature and water quality are mostly steady and balanced. Our nature trail project is going very well and we are setting the date for the clean up right now.

The nature trail is very important to our community because it is a valuable resource for us to use. It also is a spot for alot of plant and animal life to flourish! We are extremely lucky to have it in our immediate vicinty. I use the nature trail all the time actually in the summer to walk my dog and my sister and dad use it to go for runs.

biobottle project

In our project we are goin to test the water quality, temperature, & dissolved oxygen of our terraqua biobottles. One is going to be in natural light, bright light & no light. our bottles have all the same factors except for light. It will be a good test of how ecosystems thrive in different enviroments. It is an awesome project and im really excited!

project reflection

Our nature trail project is going really awesome! Me and Ona have actually gone out there and taken a look at what needs to be done and made a video about the trail. we are setting up dates to work on it and want to get a majority of the community to help out. Dr. defrance said that our project was good but that we need to talk to Bill about the trees were are gonna do stuff to, like clear out and plant new ones. This trail is gonna need alot of effort but it will be worth it for the generations beyond ours that will use the trail & learn from it!

i did them...c? lol

Climate Blog
TORNADOES
One of the types of storms/natural disasters that occur in the climate are tornadoes. They are rotating columns of air that are in cotact with the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud. Tornadoes cause a great deal of damage and occur in the United States alot. They have the most recorded tornadoes of any country.

HURRICANES
A hurricane is a storm system that is characterized by a large low pressure center and numerous thundrstorms that produce very strong winds and heavy rains. Hurricanes can cause alot of damage and create alot of inland flooding, mostly affecting the coastal regions of countries.

Hurricanes & tornadoes are both powerful forces of nature not to be messed with. If one is in your area it is best to take shelter!

2nd green wish & equinox
I wish that our school would have a recycling program and that everyone would become more involved.

EQUINOX & 2nd wish

The equinox happens twice a year once in the spring and once again in the fall. It happens because the sun is vertically above the equator, and is not tipped away or towards the Earth. During this rare occcurence the night and day are an equal amount of time. They are both 12 hours long.. After the fall equinox the days become shorter and after the spring one they become longer. The days this happen are March 20/21 and September 22/23.

green wish & earthforce

I wish our school would use solar & wind power.

It was really cool how the kids cleaned up the graffiti. They made there town look so much nicer. Also I read about the kids who picked up ciggarette butts and that makes a big difference. I want to pick up and trash and clean the river for our group project. I think it would help us bond as a class and benefit the community.
